Mental Health Treatment

Residential Mental Health Treatment in California

Mental Health Disorders progress in silence, distortion and literally create more disorder. The mental illness deepens and broadens in the quiet and the dark. Also, any mental illness reduces self-efficacy (the ability to problem-solve through life’s unexpected events) and human connection. In the silence, shame’s voice(s) have power. But, in D’Amore’s Mental Health Treatment care, shame has no home. Our patients learn to live independently with their diagnosis. Dignity replaces shame and problem-solving overpowers isolation.

The combination of any of the above or even one of these persistent mental states contributes to a lower quality of life, strained relationships, and impaired productivity. Commonly, the disappointment and disenchantment in life is the frame for a new, fresh canvas. A mental illness diagnosis is the beginning of authentic and abundant life for the patients at our Orange County, California Mental Health Center.

Mental Health Treatment Is Vital During Addiction Recovery

From depression to anxiety, there are many mental health disorders that can influence or cause an addiction. Specifically, many adults who struggle with substance abuse don’t even realize they have a mental health problem. Therefore, D’Amore Healthcare believes it is imperative to complete an assessment in order to develop the proper, personalized treatment plan for your specific needs.

Admitted patients with a mental health disorder and addiction will be best suited for a dual diagnosis program.

Our Dual Diagnosis Program

Our dual diagnosis program simultaneously treats any addiction and mental health treatment. In fact, treating one without the other would create complications during recovery.  Patients would also risk relapse.

anxiety, Coping with Stress in Recovery

It is not uncommon for people with substance abuse disorders to experience anxiety, depressive episodes, mood swings, and delusional behavior.

These disorders are often closely tied to the person’s active addictions, but it is often difficult to discern if the substance abuse is the person’s way of coping with these issues, or if these disorders are an outcropping from the addiction itself.  For this reason, our dual diagnosis program will dive into the root causes of addiction through a variety of therapeutic techniques.

Mental Health Disorder Facts

Whether you’re aware of it or not, chances are you know someone who has been personally affected by a mental health disorder. Overall, only about half of those affected receive treatment. For example, about 7 or 8 out of every 100 people will experience PTSD at some point in their lives. Among many symptoms, prevalence can be masked by; working too much, coping at happy hour, marital strife, abuse of prescription medications, fits of rage, and escalating from legal drugs to illegal drugs. Thus, leading to a strong sense of helplessness. Research on mental health epidemiology shows that mental disorders are common throughout the United States.

Adults Living With Serious Mental Illness

Mental illness is different than cancer or a broken leg. In fact, getting an accurate diagnosis requires looking at feelings, experiences, behaviors, social patterns and physical health.

Most of all, don’t be afraid to reach out if you or someone you know needs help. Because, learning all you can about mental health is an important first step.

According to Colton, Manderscheid, and Parks (2006), individuals living with serious mental illness face an increased risk of having chronic medical conditions. In fact, adults living with serious mental illness die on average 25 years earlier than other Americans. Consequently, adults live longer when they seek treatment.

The Journey Of The Warrior

In stride with Pema Chodron’s articulate observation, patients who complete D’Amore Healthcare’s program are considered warriors. “So even if the hot loneliness is there, and for 1.6 seconds we sit with that restlessness when yesterday we couldn’t sit for even one, that is the journey of the warrior.” The warrior knows the heat of fear, knows chaos. Yet, seizes their own space, to discover and rely on new tools, while developing skills and a resilient support system while taking simple steps every day toward the goal. After all, this progression is bigger than any diagnosis.

The patient that graduates our 30 – 45 day stabilization program is more self-aware and more compassionate than the person who first admitted to care because our therapies, structure, love and boundaries create beliefs around overcoming, enough, purpose, abundance, community and mercy. Therefore, our unique program applies Gracious Redundancy and Positive Reinforcements to develop: a. self-trust, b. trust of others, c. self-respect, d. respect for others.
